En segundo lugar, buscamos comprender los mecanismos de los modelos comerciales que afectan los problemas sociales. Primero, probamos modelos comerciales conocidos para resolver problemas sociales con el fin de comprender el contexto y las instituciones de América Latina y validar estos modelos comerciales para determinar si resuelven problemas sociales en América Latina (ej., microfinanzas, modelos de base de la pirámide, responsabilidad social corporativa, gestión de recursos humanos y gestión de grupos de interés). El Grupo de Investigación con Enfoque Estratégico en Innovación Social y Sustentabilidad busca alinear a las empresas y a la sociedad mediante el desarrollo de modelos de negocios para resolver los problemas sociales y ambientales en América Latina.
